Special Needs/E.C. Week
Special Needs Week
Special Needs Week is for ages 9-up with mild to moderate mental disabilities.
The program is designed to give the camper a one-week camping experience within
a Christian community. The daily program is designed to help the camper make
new friends through cooperative goup living; stimulate a sense of curiosity,
wonder and adventure in nature’s out-of-doors; reinforce acquired skills and
develop new skills through arts and crafts, group activities and waterfront;
and to deepen their faith through the love, care, and concern that are a part
of daily and total program.
Eligibility
Enrollement is open to males and females with a minimum age of 9. The program
is designed for campers with moderate special needs who are expected to.
...Perform basic activities of daily living such as dressing, eating, and
personal care
...Walk unassisted
...Communicate his/her needs and desires
Staff
Camp Fatima regular season staff is supplemented with highschool and college
students, teachers and professionals.
Exceptional Citizens Week
For more than 100 campers, this one week at Camp Fatima is a highlight in
their lives. They are treated as exceptional citizens: all activities are
centered around their interests and they are catered to by a qualified, entusiastic
and energetic volunteer staff many of whom also consider the week a highlight
in their lives. Camper’s enrollement is entirely free, funded by generous
contributions-both large and small from many different people. In its nearly
40 years of operation, E.C. Week has made a dream come true for more that
3,000 campers.
The staff of volunteers is made up of people from all walks
of life - business professionals, teachers, homemakers and members of the
religous community, to name a few. They all share a common desire to provide
fun, happiness and love for the campers for this one week.
