Staff Opportunities

What Makes a Good Staff Person?

The Diocesan Camps employ mature high school students, college students and teachers who can provide a creative camping experience which meets the needs of our campers. A staff member should be trustworthy, responsible, enjoy working with kids and act as a good role model. All staff and volunteers have thorough interviews, including criminal background checks.

What Does a Staff Member Do?

All counselors are assigned to a cabin in which they live with a co-counselor and approximately 12 campers for whom they are responsible. Counselors are assigned to a specific program area on land or waterfront depending upon their interests and abilities.

At the Camps, a strong emphasis is placed on safety at all times. Counselors provide supervision while allowing campers their own "space." Staff members also motivate campers as they proceed through our exciting program and are expected to support and participate in all camp activities.

Staff members guide and encourage campers in their activities and, very importantly, have fun!

If you are interested in recieveing an application or more information, please call or email us. You can download and print out the application.
